Sleaford Town JFC win Lincolnshire FA Charter Standard Community Club of the Year
Sleaford Town Junior Football Club have been awarded Charter Standard Community Club of the Year for Lincolnshire by the County Football Association. The award will be presented to the club at Scunthorpe United’s Glanford Park ground in August during the Lincolnshire senior cup final.
FA Community Clubs are required to meet FA criteria, ensuring that they provide opportunities for players irrespective of age, gender, religion and ability. They have to ensure that they provide fully qualified coaches, first aiders and child protection officers. A Community Club is recognised by the FA as the pinnacle of the development pathway and is awarded to those clubs with a high quality, multi team set up with excellent social, training and playing opportunities for all.
Upon notification of the award Chairman Will Cooke commented ‘The award has been the icing on the cake following another successful season at the club with the teams winning 3 League Titles, 2 League Cups, as well as reaching 2 County Cup Finals. In addition to this it recognises all of the hard work that the non playing members have put into the club not only for this season, but in the development of the club’s structure over the past few years and everybody involved with the club should be extremely proud of their achievement.’
The forthcoming season will see the addition of a further 4 teams to the club including a new Under 12 Girls team. Once again a new Under 7 (mixed) team will be formed and the club are especially looking for players to form this team. If you are interested in playing in this or any other age group, would like to become more involved with the juniors or provide sponsorship please contact either Will Cooke (07764 356921) or Vice Chairman Kev Waddingham (07808 204414) for further information.
